Laser hair removal has become an increasingly popular method of ridding yourself of unwanted hair. If this is your first session, however, you’ll want to keep these things in mind before your session.
Start with a Clean Slate: Shower or bath immediately before your appointment and DO NOT add any oils, lotions, or creams after toweling off. And for three days before treatment, avoid acids, peels, and retinols in the treatment areas.
Shave, yes; Wax, no: The treatment area should be shaved completely prior to treatment, but not sooner than 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments. Since the laser targets the root of the hair, it must be present for the treatment to be effective. Shaving is the only form of hair removal recommended during the course of your treatments.
Stay out of the Sun: Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area, and do not use UV tanning beds at all for two weeks before treatment. Use a daily broad-spectrum sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Check on Prescriptions: Be sure to discuss any prescriptions you are taking with our office during consultation for guidance.
Save other Treatments for Later: Do not have Botox injections, dermal filler injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion in the treatment area for at least 14 days before laser hair removal.
