Juvederm gel injectables have become a popular treatment for the reduction of wrinkles. But to maintain their effectiveness, there are some important things to keep in mind after your treatment.
DO apply an ice pack for the first hour after treatment.
DO apply any doctor-supplied topical creams to help reduce bruising.
DO use sunscreen. The sun’s UV rays can actually reverse the benefits of your Juvederm treatment. Use a high-quality broad-spectrum sunscreen, avoid the outdoors during peak UV hours, and wear a wide-brimmed hat.
DO stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to enhance the water-absorption effect of hyaluronic-based fillers, so they stay plump. Similarly, using a daily facial moisturizer helps longevity.
DO take a zinc supplement as some studies have shown that injectable efficacy is linked to zinc levels within the body.
DON’T scratch or massage around the injection site
DON’T participate in activities with intense heat, such as sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax.
DON’T drink alcohol excessively. It contributes to dehydration of the skin.
DON’T participate in extreme exercise. Regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle is always a good idea, but repeated extreme movements, will lessen the effectiveness and longevity of your fillers
DON’T put too much pressure on the injection site -- this includes deep-cleansing facials and sleeping on your side or stomach. But don't be too concerned about everyday movement. Applying makeup or blowing your nose is unlikely to dramatically reverse any injectables.
DO talk to a dermatologist. Expert advice based on your specific needs will help you have the right experience. The team at Windsor Dermatology is ready to help you create a personalized treatment plan. Call today to schedule your consultation.
